BBC highlighted the transformation of Medellin

Once again the BBC visited Medellin, but this time they did it to show its transformation after being, in the early 90s, in the eye of the storm because of the violence and drug trafficking.

BBC’s track (see video)

Through a video of seven minutes, this London news medium shows how the capital of Antioquia came, beyond the histories of violence, to be an example of change for other cities in the world.

The library parks and major urban construction in the popular areas inhabited by poor people are part of the route of this team of journalists; they celebrate the change perceived even from the people smiling down the streets.

A major example of this change was the Spain Library Park, in Santo Domingo neighborhood, from which BBC highlights the grandeur of its construction and the way it benefits the community in the sector. The same applies to the Metro and Metrocable systems, which are able to dramatically reduce the time of mobilization in the city.

Although violence has not completely disappeared from the streets, BBC says you just need to talk with the inhabitants of Antioquia’s capital to discover this incredible transformation.

The city of Fernando Botero, with its monumental “gordos”, reopened its doors to tourism; even in all Colombia it has increased dramatically in the last five years.

Visitors realize that they came to Medellin with a critical negative image, but one they get here they met a completely different place.

For BBC, Medellin is a reflection of a change of mentality reflected in the pride of the people living in the capital of Antioquia.
