President of the Dominican Republic visits Medellin

Next week, between August 5th and 6th, the president of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez Reyna, will be in our city. The visit of President Fernandez comes after the invitation the Mayor Alonso Salazar extended to the Dominican President in February this year, when Salazar was in his country to participate in the forum "Violence in Colombia, from the murders of Gaitán and Galán," and to give a lecture on the transformation of Medellin, organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE).
Furthermore, the visit aims to the signing of a cooperation agreement between Medellin Mayor’s Office and the Dominican Republic's central government to strengthen the ties of friendship between our people as well as the cooperation in areas of mutual interest, especially on Transparent Municipal Management.
The agenda of the president, which is lead and coordinated by the ACI, also includes a visit to EAFIT and the University of Antioquia, and exchanges with officials of the Municipality of Medellin and entrepreneurs from Antioquia.
Indeed, on Friday, August 6th, President Leonel Fernandez will give a talk on Geopolitics in Latin America and the Caribbean at EAFIT.
The delegation of the President of the Dominican Republic is composed, among other personalities from the Dominican government, by the First Lady, Margarita Cedeño, and the Director of FUNGLODE, Marcos Herrera.
