Singapore and Korea are getting to know the transformation of Medellin

The Straits Times from Singapore and Joonang Sunday from Korea, published two extensive reports about Colombia. In both reports, Medellin is cited as an amazing, modern, welcoming, and model city in terms of social transformation. The journalists were in our city in early July, thanks to the support and cooperation relationship that the ACI has with the country's Foreign Ministry and the “Imagen País” campaign from the Colombia is Passion program.
These days the far Eastern countries have been learning more about the reality and the attractions of Colombia and Medellin, as ideal destinations for tourism and business.
For further illustration here are attached the two articles on Colombia, which were recently published in the newspapers Sunday Joonang from Korea and The Straits Times from Singapore. These are special reports in which Medellin is highlighted as one of the most attractive and comfortable destinations when visiting our country, as well as the development the city has been consolidating is emphasized.
In short, the Joonang Sunday reports that Medellin has become a model for other Latin American cities; it is also reported that one of the most striking and surprising experiences was to visit the Santo Domingo neighborhood, where years ago the police or foreigners could not even enter.
The newspaper qualifies the Metrocable system as a success as it benefits the inhabitants of this area of the city. Besides, the report includes the construction of the Library Parks as one of the most important aspects of our social transformation and also the fact that Medellin has allocated about 40% of its budget in education in recent years. For its part, The Straits Times mentioned the pride perceived among the inhabitants after the undergoing transformation process. It also highlights the value of the library parks within the development scheme the city has been consolidating and remarks how, thanks to works such as these, Medellin has been awarded several international awards on architecture.
Other important reasons to get captivated by our city are the educational and recreational offer of Explora Park and the ripeness of our traditional cuisine. (Full story here.)
Thanks to the relationship the ACI and the city of Medellin keep with the Foreign Ministry and the Colombia is passion program in their purpose to show the world the positive side of the country, the city welcomed in July two groups of journalists from the Far East, who met along with their cameras and microphones the most representative spots of Medellin and Colombia as a whole.
